Garden Gates & Fencing in Loughborough & Surrounding Areas
A tired, wobbly fence can make the whole garden feel messy and exposed. If your panels are leaning, rotten or have already come down in a storm, it’s probably time for a fresh start.
We, from Groundzman, supply and install fencing and garden gates across Loughborough and surrounding villages. We build neat, straight, solid boundaries which gives you privacy, security and a nice looking garden.

Professional Service
Professional Fencing for Homes & Gardens
We focus on practical, long-lasting garden fencing that fits the functionality of the space. That might be:
-
More privacy from neighbours
-
A safe area for children to play
-
A secure boundary for dogs
-
A better backdrop for patios and planting
Whatever the reason, we’ll talk through options that work for your plot, budget and the look you’re going for. Typical projects include replacing old, broken fences with new panels; adding taller fencing or trellis for extra privacy; new garden gates for side access or driveways; and fencing as part of a full garden makeover
Types of Fencing We Install
We install a wide range of garden fencing and gates around Loughborough. Some of the most popular choices are:
Panel Fencing
Standard fence panels are a straightforward way to create a clean, modern boundary. They work well in most gardens and are quick to install, especially with concrete posts and gravel boards. We can supply and fit:
-
Overlap / lap panels
-
Decorative or double-sided panels
-
Panels with matching gates where needed
Closeboard & Featheredge Fencing
If you want a stronger, heavier fence, closeboard / featheredge is a good option. Built on site from individual boards, it stands up well to wind and suits gardens that need a bit more strength and privacy.
It’s often the go-to choice for long runs along the back or side of a garden.
Picket Fencing
Picket (palisade) fencing works well at the front of a property or around cottage-style gardens. It marks the boundary without blocking all the light and gives a softer, closer to traditional look.
Trellis & Decorative Screens
We can add trellis sections on top of existing fencing for extra height, or use trellis panels and decorative screens to break up the garden and create separate areas, such as seating spots or bin storage.
Garden Gates
All gates are fitted with suitable hinges, latches and locks, so they’re practical as well as tidy. To finish the boundary properly, we supply and install:
-
Side gates for alleyways and side access
-
Matching gates for panel or closeboard fencing
-
Small front garden gates
-
Strong framed and braced gates for regular usе

New Fence Installation & Full Replacements
If your fence has had its day, it’s usually better to replace it properly rather than keep patching odd panels. Our installation service covers everything:
-
Clearing the old fence
We remove old posts, panels and concrete, and take waste off site. -
Setting solid posts
We set new timber or concrete posts in concrete, at the right depth, in straight lines. Getting this right is what keeps the fence standing when the wind picks up. -
Installing panels or boards
We fit your chosen panels or build closeboard fencing on site, checking levels and heights as we go. -
Finishing touches
Gravel boards, capping rails and gate furniture are added, and the area is left swept and tidy. -
You get one point of contact throughout and a clear written quote before any work starts.
Fencing for Sloping or Difficult Gardens
Many gardens around Loughborough sit on a slope or have uneven ground. That doesn’t mean your fence has to look stepped and messy.
Because we also handle groundworks and hard landscaping, we’re used to:
-
Setting fences on slopes without odd gaps
-
Combining fences with retaining walls or raised beds
-
Working around existing patios, sheds and trees
-
Digging out old concrete and roots during site clearance
We’ll talk about the options (stepped, raked or mixed solutions) so the new boundary looks deliberate.

Timber, Concrete & Finishes
We use pressure-treated timber from reliable suppliers and set posts at the right depth in good concrete. For higher-wear areas or exposed spots, concrete posts and gravel boards are often the best choice, as they keep the timber off the ground and don’t rot. You can choose from timber or concrete posts; timber or concrete gravel boards; different panel styles and heights; as well as picket, closeboard or decorative options.
We’ll explain the pros and cons of each, including future maintenance and how they’ll look next to your house and garden.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you just replace a few panels, or does it have to be the whole fence?
We’re happy to quote for both. Sometimes replacing a few damaged panels and posts is fine; other times the whole run is dried out, and you’d be better off starting again. We’ll be honest about what makes sense.
Do I need to speak to the neighbour before changing the fence?
If the fence sits on the boundary, it’s always best to have a quick chat with your neighbour before work starts, even if you’re paying for it. We can help explain what we plan to do if needed.
How tall can my garden fence be?
Most back garden fences are up to around 1.8m (6ft), sometimes with trellis on top. Front garden fences are usually lower. If you want to go higher, planning rules may apply, so we can point you in the right direction to check.
Do you treat or paint the fence as well?
Timber comes pressure-treated as standard. If you’d like it stained or painted in a particular colour, we can discuss this as an extra step or advise on suitable products you can use yourself once the timber has settled.
Ready to sort your fencing?
If your garden fence is leaning, rotten or no longer doing its job, we can replace it with something solid, neat and built to last.
